He Is Our Caregiver
Karen Mayerscik gives us her contribution to June’s devotions. This is a real encouragement.
James 1:27: “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress.
My 95-year-old Mom celebrated her birthday in February. She rotates throughout the year staying with me and my two siblings. Her health is starting to deteriorate, and we can see the differences in her from the time she was with us to when she returns. Caregiving can feel really challenging at times, but God has faithfully given the grace, strength, and extra patience needed to care for her.
Whether you’re caring for a parent, spouse, friend recovering from surgery, someone with a long illness, or a child facing struggles, it can be overwhelming—pouring yourself out day after day while trying to keep your own life going, with possibly your own personal issues.
But here’s truth: God never leaves us to carry it alone. He provides everything we need for these hard seasons. Isaiah 40:31 (NIV) says:
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
The Bible is full of promises like this. No matter how tired or inadequate we feel, God sees every effort, refreshes us when we’re weary, and carries us through.
He also promises:
-He’ll never leave or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6)
-His mercies and compassion are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23)
-He’ll strengthen, help, and uphold us when we’re afraid (Isaiah 41:10)
So in keeping our eyes on Him —we can stay strong, stay refreshed, and keep going. It’s not always easy, but I know He’s right there every step of the way.
Make it a Freeing Friday!
God is good.
