Forgiveness and Responsibility
Tammy Horvath as most of you know lost her precious son to senseless act of violence in a drug deal gone bad. She has written a book entitled Gone In An Instant which is available on Amazon. I highly recommend it. Tammy recently shared this with me and I know it will encourage you as it did me. Continuing to pray for you Tammy. Love ya, P.ray
“…forgive that person because the Lord forgave you.”
Colossians 3:13 NCV
Yesterday, God showed me that my prison ministry is about so much more than simply sharing Jesus’s love and grace with Tyrone.
I love talking with people, so I always arrive at the prison early. While waiting to check in, I spend time visiting with the other visitors. Sometimes I even walk over to their cars and chat with them in the parking lot. As I’m being processed, I talk with several of the guards, and I usually visit with the guard assigned to the visiting room as well.
Because my story is so unexpected, it often captures people’s attention. That opens the door for me to share how Jesus calls us to love everyone and how His grace is available to all who are willing to receive it.
Since Tyrone has been transferred several times, I’ve now visited at least five different prisons. With every move, God has introduced me to even more people with whom I can share my story and the hope found in Christ. Tyrone also shares my books with other inmates and with guards, allowing the message to reach even more hearts.
How good our God is to bless me with such an incredible opportunity. I once believed this ministry was only about Tyrone, but now I see God had a much bigger plan all along.
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”
Ephesians 4:31-32 NLT
