Creation Speaks

Pastor Candi shares with us a beautiful message of love and faithfulness. You will love this!

A 3x5 card with Psalm 19: 1,2 written on it inhabits a place on our bathroom mirror.  This is where verses that are speaking loudly reside.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.”

There is so much to be learned from God’s astonishing creation.

Currently we find ourselves learning from one of His little creatures. His name is Winston. In the midst of all the craziness of the past 15 months we decided to add a to puppy to our household.

What could possibly go wrong?

We knew that we preferred another hypoallergenic Cockapoo so Big Wayne contacted a breeder. He told her we would like a black in color, female, if possible. The day came when she posted pictures of the puppies online. Talk about adorable.

One stood out from the rest; he was the total opposite of what we had said. Buff white in color and male, he had the most beautiful eyes. We voted by secret ballot and the answer was clear. He was our chosen one.

When we went to pick him up he was a tiny little ball of fluff. We should have known that he was going to give us a run for our money on the trip home. Let’s just say that he made it clear. He was a male, not a female😉

We named him Winston. But it wasn’t very long before he earned his nickname: Wild Winston.

Winston is full of himself. He has a mind of his own. He thinks the world revolves around him.He wants what he wants when he wants it.

Apparently there is not much of a difference between two species, if you catch my drift. Winston needs direction. He needs to learn what is appropriate. Winston craves love; especially the love of his human daddy.

Winston’s adoration of Big Wayne is clearly visible. He sits longingly, staring at the door when his favorite human leaves. When he returns Winston celebrates as if the big guy has been gone for hours. Jumping, yipping, tail wagging, flipping over to his belly rub position, he is filled with joy.

His exuberance is unmistakable.

According to Winston there can never be too much time spent with his “daddy.”

This morning Winston and I were on the front porch as Big Wayne drove off to a doctor’s appointment. He barked as the car pulled out of the driveway and made its way up the road out of his sight. Then he sat by the gate, watching and waiting, longing for Big Wayne’s return.

In that moment, I began to reflect on my position as one chosen by God.

Is my adoration for my Father, my daddy, my Abba, as clearly visible as Winston’s for Big Wayne?

Do I long to be in God’s presence so that I can receive direction and learn what is appropriate behavior?

Is Jesus my all-in-all, the One that I cannot live without?

Do I anxiously await “the blessed hope-the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good.” Titus 2:13, 14

Make room, Winston. I am joining you at the gate.

Make it a Thoughtful Thursday!

God is good…
