Michal

Frank Young, from Sportsman Ministries shares today’s words of inspiration to us. Thx Frank, great!

Her name is Michal. She was the wife of David! I was introduced to her early in my journey with the Lord.

For years after reading about her, I was irritated with her, until just recently. I moved from being irritated to having compassion for her.

We read in 2 Samuel about her. As David was bringing the ark into the city of David, she saw David leaping and dancing before the Lord and she despised him in her heart. She later confronted him basically saying that he looked like a fool in dancing before the servants uncovered.

That part of the scripture upset me, because to me, this was a picture of religious people being offended because someone who was excited about God was worshipping God different than them.

Then I began to study this woman. She was Saul's daughter. You can just imagine being raised by a father like that. A man who was very insecure and I am sure she experienced his wrath. She was like a pawn in a chest game being given to one man and then being left behind and then being given away to another man. Then being torn out of the arms of that man and given back to David because she was his possession.

It was at that point that I began to have compassion for her. She is an example of someone with a broken spirit, someone who has been wounded. My heart broke for her because it did not need to be that way.

She did not need to be filled with hatred and bitterness. She could have been delivered and set free.

There are many of us like Michal, but it doesn't need to be that way. It is Gods desire for us to be renewed.

Listen! It doesn't need to be that way!

Make it a Sweet Saturday! God is good…
