Faith Legacy

Carrie Young shares today’s touching devo with us. So many of you will relate. Ty Carrie

Life seems to be getting shorter to me recently. I’m not sure if it’s because I lost both Mom and Dad in the last year or because my kids are all grown up and my outlook on life has changed. I have suddenly become aware that I’m the next to go. I’m not scared about this, just has me seriously reevaluating how I’m spending the time I have left. When the kids are small there is so much to do. It’s honestly overwhelming. Schedules and routines, deadlines and running all over the place. It doesn’t seem there will ever be a break in all the action. I felt like I didn’t really have my priorities straight. Then came the season of taking care of the parents. The anxiety and unfamiliarity of being their caregiver instead of being taken care of was quite daunting.  When that season passes and they are gone, the sudden realization hits you that your “home base” is now gone. I am thankful that they are now in heaven, that their whole reason for living has come to pass as they dwell with Jesus. I now understand their obsession with saying “Jesus loves you and so do I” in every card they sent always! They realized in their last years that time was short and turning others to Jesus was now the priority. I am so thankful for their prayers over my life and over Ryan and my children’s lives as well. They left us all with the knowledge of Gods faithfulness and love. I’m trying to be more intentional about living my faith out loud and pointing others to Christ. I’m sorry for the years that I didn’t make this a priority. As I learn to be more bold in sharing my faith, I am making it a point to be a prayer warrior. My prayer is that I can help to point the next generation to a relationship with Christ.

Psalm 78:3-4  says;

“What we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children. We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power and the wonders he has done.”

Make it a Warfare Wednesday! God is good…
