Oero Cookies
Kim Gearhart brings us today’s sweet devo. This is so good
The older I get… the more I realize that “the good stuff is in the middle”.
I have spent a lot of time recently going to funerals and memorials of friends and loved ones. No matter how busy everyone is, people seem to be able to drop everything to get there to pay their final respects. Everyone discusses how they regret not having spent more time together, and talk about how many times we said we need to hang out more, or just grab dinner and catch up. We always assume that there is more time. We have the best of intentions… but life has other plans.
And then there are the weddings..where everyone makes sure to clear their schedule to get together to celebrate the new beginnings. Brides pick out their beautiful dresses, and flowers, and venues to make their day just perfect. And usually the day comes off without a hitch (pun intended) just like they planned ..with only a few minor glitches.
A wonderful day with everyone together sharing in a joyful celebration.
But we all know that a “marriage” is completely different than a “wedding.”
Life happens, bills need paid, children need cared for, homes need maintained.
It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day grind.
Young parents feel overwhelmed at all of the responsibilities, and the schedules, and unplanned doctor visits.
But, there are also times of celebrating birthdays, and attending ball games, dance recitals, chorus concerts…All of the good stuff that goes by in a blur.
The older I get the more clear my hindsight is.
Having been blessed with going through both bad times and good times with my friends and family…I clearly see that although those big events are important…
those fancy beginnings and those tearful endings… “the good stuff happens in the middle”.
That’s why when we get those Oreo cookies and we twist them apart…we savor the cream filling. The good stuff… in the middle.
Of course we need to celebrate those happy beginnings, and come together for those tearful goodbyes… But we need to remember to slow down and enjoy “the middle”.
Make sure to take the time to enjoy today… But Live for Eternity.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 reads: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven".
“This declares that God makes all things beautiful in their proper time, places eternity in the human heart, yet restricts mankind from fully understanding His work from beginning to end.”
Make it a Tasty Tuesday!God is good…
