Under God
Karen Mayerscik shares this really relevant devo with us today. I’m so thankful for her words of Truth!
Happy 250th Birthday, America!!
I was read a study that examined thousands of writings from the Founding Fathers to see what influenced them most. It wasn’t a philosopher, a politician, or some European thinker—the most cited source was the Bible.
Our founders were Christian men, not perfect, and not in agreement on every doctrine. They helped shape our Constitution on the belief in one God, that our nation was under God, and that government ultimately rests on His shoulders (Isaiah 9:6).
Early Americans also rooted their education in Scripture. One of the earliest and most widely used schoolbooks—the New England Primer—taught children to read from the Bible. Students learned directly from God’s Word.
In 1973, two landmark decisions were made: the Endangered
Species Act became law, protecting animals from being killed, and SCOTUS’s decision in Roe v. Wade allowed a pregnant woman to end the life of her unborn child. Isn’t that ironic—and tragic? Why do I bring this up?
They say that when a country forgets its foundations, it often misdiagnoses its problems—and when you misdiagnose the problem, you apply the wrong solution.
So what’s the solution? Truth. Jesus said, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The Word of God is the only true standard, and we have free access to that whenever we want. God’s truth—the moral compass the founders relied on—still defines real freedom. (John 8:36)
Bless this land Lord, protect those who serve it. Strengthen us in times of uncertainty. Thank you that the government rests on your shoulders, and You sit on Your throne above the sphere of this earth watching and guiding us. (Isaiah 40:22).
God bless America.
Make it a Truth- filled Tuesday!God is good…
