Stable

Josh Mihalko spends some quality quiet time each morning with the Lord. Today he shares these thoughts that was a result of his quiet time. Thx Josh

STABLE: like a tight rope walker. They maintain a mental focus, a mindfulness of staying present in the moment to avoid distractions. With usually thousands of people watching them as they walk across that tiny rope hundred of feet above ground, they don’t let anything distract them from obtaining the goal of walking across the rope.

Why don’t we as Christians view God/Jesus/Holy Spirit as a tightrope. We already know that it’s a narrow road that we are to walk on. When distracted, we tend to hop on I 95 instead of tiny little Berwick Road. (Clarify I95 is a 4 or 5 lane highway and Berwick rd is a tiny dirt road in Cambria county).

Let us always stay focused on the Lord.  When distractions come, remember, Satan attempted to distract Jesus in the wilderness for 40 days.   Jesus never got unfocused.   Jesus always responded to the devil with “It is written.”  Jesus used the double edge sword (The word of the Lord) truth to defeat the temptation from the devil.

Temptation happens to us every day.   Whether it’s being tempted to turn your cheek the other way when you see something and you know you should say something,  being tempted to use substances,  gambling, pornography,  lust, lying,  etc.   The list goes on, you can fill in your temptation that you deal with.

But we must remember that Satan was already defeated.   Stay focused on the Lord. As His word tells us in Matthew 28:20 “I am with you ALWAYS” it is an amazing feeling to me to know that the Lord is with me always. Likewise it can be for everybody when you truly believe it, when you focus on him from the time you open your eyes till the time you close them at night, when you sit with him in silence. That’s what I was doing this morning. I was sitting with the Lord and I asked him to give me a word as I do every morning, andHe gave  me “stable.” And then He gave me this devotion. We all must realize temptations will come, but our God never changes.  Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”  If our focus is on Jesus, the stability of our lives increases. There are times when trials take place, but let’s be like Jesus in the wilderness and crush temptation with the double edge sword with our faith and with love.   Not like the Israelites in the wilderness when they ran from God and they were selfish and disobedient.   Despite God’s continuous provision and guidance, the Israelites frequently rebelled against God.  A great example is the golden calf in Exodus 32.   The act of disobedience or  not staying “stable”(focused) on God resulted in severe consequences, including not entering the promised land for 40 years due to them wondering (Numbers14:26-35).

So let’s stay “stable”on our walk with the Lord. Let’s be like Jesus in the wilderness.  1 Peter 2:21 “For you have been called for the purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow his steps.”

I hope all reading this. Have a blessed day. May the Lord guide your steps throughout this day and everyday forward and keep you stable.

Make it a Thoughtful Thursday! God is good…
