No Fear
Tara Mihalko shares today’s devotional with us. This is sure to encourage you.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self control.
The Lord radically took my fears away. I had fears of men, stores, crowds, snakes, driving, darkness and spiders. To name a few. I feared everything.
When I tell you that when the Lord took them, they literally melted away one by one. I started going to stores. Being in crowds. I began to love people that I didn’t know and saw in stores. In one day on our property I saw 5 species of snakes; instead of being fearful, I was intrigued.
I began to see beauty in snakes and in spiders. To the point that I bought a jumping spider as a pet. I’m sure you’ve all seen them at some point. They are here in Pennsylvania and they are down south. They are small, but they are so cute. The technology that we have now enables us to see things very closely. And the first time that I saw a jumping spider‘s little face, I fell in love.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.
I now have three of them. I literally get these spiders out and let them crawl in my hands and arms. They have what they call chels, which are their fangs; by the way they’re very small. But they are absolutely stunning. I have two males and a female. The males chels are bright green. And the female that I just got has ruby red chels. Precious. This comes from somebody who would scream if there were a spider near me. Or wouldn’t sleep in a bedroom because I saw a spider in it.
I have even fed a jumping spider that was on my pool deck.
Now would I say, I’m a fan of the giant spiders like the wolf spider, no. But I’m not afraid. I respect them as before I feared them.
But the whole point of this is to tell you that fear doesn’t control me anymore.
Praise the Lord!
I can wholeheartedly say,
Psalms 34:4 I sought the Lord, and He answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
Make it a Trusting Tuesday! God is good…
