Hold Me Up

Janet Roth brings us this wonderful truth- we need each other!

I woke up with the song “Hold me up” When this happens I know it’s God speaking to me on what to share.

People with problems or illness has taught me that support isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. We need each other, prayer is so powerful. So important.

There are days when one can’t do what they normally do, when the mind or body is exhausted and their strength is gone. On those days, dependence on God looks like surrender:Lord, I need You to hold me up.

And so often, He does that through

The person who prays.

The church family who remembers.

Your spouse being with you through it all

Your friend with a text or call.

The one who doesn’t need to understand everything about your problems or illness, they just need that extra power of prayer.

“Carry each other’s burdens…” — Galatians 6:2

Problems or illness can be incredibly lonely. That’s why fellowship matter so much. We need people who will walk with them not just when they’re doing well, but when they’re struggling, breaking down, and learning to surrender.

Sometimes we are the ones who need to be carried. Other times, we get the privilege of carrying someone else.

“A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT

The simplest answer about the meaning of this proverb, restricting it to its immediate context and sense, is that being a loner is not wise. Community and fellowship are God-ordained and are neglected only by fools.

This is thoroughly consistent with Proverbs. A choice example, among many:

“A recluse is self-indulgent, snarling at every sound principle of conduct.”—Proverbs 18:1 (NLT)

God is our strength, and often, His hands are the people He places around us. 🤍
