Grateful for Journey 110

Chris Carpenter

Chris Carpenter shares her experience at this week’s prayer meeting and encourages us to pray.

“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

— 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Tuesday evening I attended the prayer group at Journey Church at 110 Clinton Street and before I walked in, I prayed that God would teach, use and help me receive whatever He wanted me to learn.

The moment I entered, I was welcomed by name and surrounded by peace. Pastor Candi read scripture and we shared about gratitude, and as we each spoke what we were thankful for, God reminded me how precious it is to gather with other believers. What a gift it is to pray together with a body of believers to encourage one another, and share the burdens we were never meant to carry alone.

— Matthew 18-19:20

“Again, truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven.  For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

We came with weary hearts as fragile “earthen vessels,” yet God met us there. As we prayed, our spirits were strengthened by His presence and by one another. In that room there was no judgment—only love, peace, and the comforting power of the Holy Spirit.

“The Spirit helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us through wordless groans.”

— Romans 8:26

How often do we hold tightly to our worries when God is asking us to place them in His hands? Gratitude is more than thanking God when life is easy. It is trusting Him in every season. When we rejoice, pray, and give thanks, our hearts begin to focus less on our problems and more on God’s goodness.

Gratitude changes us. It opens our eyes to God’s blessings—a loving family, a safe home, the beauty of each season, the freedom to worship, and even the breath in our lungs. Most of all, it reminds us of the greatest gift: salvation through Jesus Christ and the assurance that we can come to God anytime, anywhere.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”

— Psalms 136:1

No matter what you are carrying today, bring it to God. He is faithful. He is near. He loves you more than anyone ever could.

Come as you are. There is always a place for you in God’s family at 110 and Journey Church.

Make it a Smart Saturday!God is good…
