Grafted
Billi Kate Debrason shares another wonderful devotional with us. I love her message and you will too.
We’re doing a tree sermon series at my church here in DC about being rooted in faith and community.
Yesterday, as I was reading Romans 11 God brought something new to my attention.
“And if the people of Israel turn from their unbelief, they will be grafted in again, for God has the power to graft them back into the tree. You, by nature, were a branch cut from a wild olive tree. So if God was willing to do something contrary to nature by grafting you into his cultivated tree, he will be far more eager to graft the original branches back into the tree where they belong.”
Romans 11:23-24 NLT
Tree grafting is a horticultural technique that joins tissues from two different woody plants to grow as one, combining desirable fruit traits with strong, disease-resistant root systems. This process takes several months and consistent care throughout.
Most of us weren’t born into perfect family trees here on Earth.
But God says even if our Earthly family tree is a “wild olive tree,” He is willing to graft us/bind us with love and care to His perfect tree! His tree has deep roots, provides shelter from the storm, and bears much fruit!
“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
Praise God today for the gift of grafting! That He chose us even when the World may not have.
Make it a Strong Saturday! God is good…
