God Sees Your Heart
Bobby shares this heart felt devo with us. This is so good…
When we come before God in prayer, may we approach Him with a humble heart, a hurting heart, an expectant heart, and a thankful heart.
A humble heart because of who He is. Even though He gives us access to Himself any time, any place, and although we are His children, and although Jesus calls us His friends, may we never forget that we are talking to the one and only God. He alone created everything seen and unseen. He is all powerful, all knowing, everywhere present, King of kings, Lord of lords. There is no one above Him. He answers to no one. He remains invisible because if we were to see Him in all His glory it would take away our free will. We would have no choice but to bow down and worship Him.
Worship Him with a humble heart.
A hurting heart because who among us does not have hurts. John 16:33 Jesus tells us that in this world we will have tribulation. We live in a sin cursed world. We can expect problems. Physical, emotional, spiritual, relational or financial; God knows about them all and He invites us to bring them to Him. 1 Peter 5:7 says to
“Cast all your anxiety upon Him because He cares for you.” And Matthew 11:28 Jesus says “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Worship Him with your hurting heart.
An expectant heart because of His promises. Matt. 6:31-33. Jesus says “Do not be anxious then, saying what shall we eat?, or what shall we drink?, or with what shall we clothe ourselves? For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 7:7 “Ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it will be opened to you.” And Romans 8:32 “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all these things.” Worship Him with an expectant heart.
A thankful heart because apart from Him, we are hell-bound sinners. He made the first move. He sent Jesus to restore the relationship between God and man. John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”God loves a thankful heart. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Worship Him with a thankful heart.
1 Samuel 16:7 “Man sees the outward appearance, but God sees the heart.”
Make it a Thoughtful Thursday! God is good…
