Father Knows (best)

Rick Leverknight reminds us that God is aware of our needs way before we are. “What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”

Matthew 10:29-31 NLT

I’m that guy who never asks for help. Whether I don’t like to bother anyone. Or if sometimes I think it’s just quicker and easier if I do it myself. There are times where I have to have someone do something for me and many times I am disappointed because I think I could’ve done better if I just did it myself.

I guess that’s why often times I don’t ask God for help. I think I can get through it myself or do it myself. I even make decisions without consulting in him.

So now I guess I really need help. Through a routine check up they found that I had a double hernia. Probably because I never asked for help lifting stuff and I just do it myself. So without seeking God and praying to him and asking him what his will was, I decided I would put it off until after summer vacation that I had planned. Now I finally was due for surgery a week ago and the hospital contacted me saying I needed to see my family doctor because my EKG was abnormal. Turns out that I may have had a heart attack earlier so next came the stress test. I guess I didn’t study well enough for that test because I also failed that. So now I’m going to see a cardiologist.

What it all comes down to is no matter what you think you’re going to do or when you’re going to do it or how you are going to get it done it’s always good to seek advice of a professional. And our professional is none other than God, our Father, who knows best.

“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.”

Proverbs 16:9 NKJV

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
