Forever
Dig Thomas shares today’s devotional with us through a poem he wrote during a very difficult time. Dig has been a part of our men’s group and has been a real blessing to us. I know you will be blessed by what he wrote. Ty Dig.
God works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform.I have had 17 back surgeries and for 21 years experienced prolonged periods of intense pain. During a bad stretch of about 2 years I was only able to sleep for two hours a day, but during those zombie-like days I also prayed for two and a half hours a night.
Through all of this pain and foggy thoughts I actually grew closer to God and wrote the following poem:
"Forever"
When I go through life's valleys, and I can't find the strength to go on.
When hope seems to be lost and I look to the hills for the help You promised I'd find.
Can I count on You to be there in the battle that rages inside of my soul?
Satan thinks he can take me, but You tell him "No", that he can't take me out of your hands!
It's by Your grace that I'm saved and that's all that will keep me alive in the end.
Alive...meaning You love me and want me beside You to share in your beautiful rest.
What a wonderful blessing to be there forever, I love You Lord Jesus my friend.
I will love You forever for what You have done, for the pain and the heartache You bore.
You have ransomed me back from my sin; thank You Jesus!
You gave all that You had just for me.
I will trust in You Lord, whatever may come, I place myself in Your hands.
You are Love, Love Supreme, nothing else can compare, You are all that I need to get through.
Thank You God! Thank You Jesus, for saving my soul, for bringing me back from the grave!
The war is now over.
Each battle is won.
Death can hold me no longer.
I stand here beside Yo.
Forever Lord Jesus, forever.
The war is now over.
Each battle is won.
Death can hold me no longer.
I stand here beside You.
Forever Lord Jesus, forever.
Forever Lord Jesus, forever.
Forever Lord Jesus, forever.
My prayer is that this poem can help someone the way it did me as I wrote it. All Glory to Jesus, my Lord and my Savior. Amen
Make it a Testifying Tuesday! God is good…
