Caring for Others

Rick Leverknight tells us the importance of caring for others. This speaks volumes to what it means to be a Christian.

Most of us at work, laughed about it. We hear the whole country is shutting down, but we are deemed essential by our employer. Although we joked about it then, looking back, we are all essential for one part or another.

Each and everyone of us play a part into how our lives and everyone around us are affected by the way we act and react. You  can choose to be miserable and by doing so everyone around you will see and react differently than if you would choose kindness and love above all.

Even in the worst of times when we may stumble in our faith or be diagnosed with a a heartbreaking medical issue or even a sudden death from a friend or family member. We must always remember we are essential and God has a plan for us. Many people I know even when diagnosed as sick, question why is this happening to me? Why would God do this to me if he loves me?

But the truth of the matter is, God is using you for a bigger purpose. I know we don’t see it at the time, but He may use you to minister to someone who’s going through the same thing that isn’t as strong as you or doesn’t believe in God or doesn’t trust God.

Back to the future. Although it’s been a long time since I’ve watched that movie it reminds me of being essential. When Marty McFly would go back in time, he would try not to change a lot of of the situations that happened then. Because if he would’ve changed everything, the people that were essential to what happened in the future it would’ve changed the outcome of everything.

So essentially what you do today changes everything in the future. P. Ray often use as a famous quote by Charles Swindoll.

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it"

So whether you know it or not, you are essential. Make everyone around you feel essential also. “Bear one another's burdens" (Galatians 6:2) is a biblical command to actively share in the struggles, emotional hardships, and spiritual burdens of others, thereby fulfilling the law of love. This means supporting one another through prayer, material assistance, and empathy, rather than letting people face challenges alone
