Call to Me
Tara Mihalko shares today’s beautiful devo with us. She tells how the Lord ministered to her in a time of need. He can do the same for you.
““Call to me, and I will answer you; I will tell you wonderful and marvelous things that you know nothing about.” Jeremiah 33:3 GNT
I was reflecting back on Mother’s Day this year. It was just the usual Mother’s Day, where I go to the cemetery prepare the ground so that I can plant my annual flowers for my mom. Often times I play a song. My Uncle John sang Wind Beneath My Wings at the church when my mother passed in 1996. So I played that song and I sat in the grass. It was a beautiful day. The skies were blue and the wind was just right. I had a good cry. The song ended and next on queue, which I wasn’t aware of was Céline Dion, Because You Loved Me. Through that song, the Lord spoke to me. Of all the times that I would go to the cemetery searching for answers. (I went a lot) Asking my mom why this was happening or that was happening. Talking to her. I don’t do that now. I was raised to pray for the dead and I can honestly say back then I prayed more for the dead than I did the living.
But the Lord showed me the love that I lacked in my parents, and others; I have now in Him. And the song spoke to my heart. Instead of because you loved me, it was because You love me.
“You were my strength when I was weak
You were my voice when I couldn't speak
You were my eyes when I couldn't see
You saw the best there was in me
Lifted me up when I couldn't reach
You gave me faith 'cause you believed
I'm everything I am
Because You love me”
This was a full circle revelation for me. I had searched the world and for people to fill the holes of my broken self. But it was Him I needed all long. And He was there, I was unaware and focused on what was going on in my life. But I’ve learned there is no greater love than the love of the Father. He pours into all those broken places. Filling the cracks and holes with His love. And most days leaves me speechless.
If you are lost, broken, overwhelmed or tired of what is happening in your life. Call out to the Lord. He’s waiting to hear from you. And when you stay on the path, He will fill every hole in your heart. He is the only one who can take your brokenness and turn it into something beautiful.
Psalms 34:18 ESV The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Make it a Special Saturday! God is good…
