To See Jesus
Vicki DiGaurdi brings us today’s wonderful devotional.
Recently, P Ray reminded those of us who had committed to writing one devotional per month to remember that commitment. I’m guilty! So I asked the Lord to help me; and, i know that He always will James 1:5 says,”If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives you all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”
Recently, I read a devotional written by Max Lucado, expounding on the story of the lad who shared his meager lunch of five loaves and two fishes with Jesus in an effort to help feed 5000. Max went on to ask, “Why would the boy make such a ‘foolish’ offer?” Answer: The boy only saw Jesus.
A song comes to mind… “Open the eyes of my heart. I want to see Jesus. To reach out and touch him to say that I love him. Open my ears, Lord and help us to listen.“
And then the next day I read something written by Henri Nouwen about seeing Jesus in the people we encounter on a daily basis. In his sermon this morning, Oscar Uzin said, “ Be alert, be alert, so that you will be able to recognize your Lord in your husband, your wife, your parents, your children, your friends, your teachers, but also in all that you read in the daily papers. The Lord is coming, always coming. Be alert to his coming.”
When you have ears to hear and eyes to see, you will recognize him at any moment of your life. Life is recognizing the coming of the Lord.’“ What also comes to mind arc the words of Jesus in John chapter 13. “ A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.“
Dear Lord, we thank you so much for your grace, which is all around us. Help us to love others as you love them. Open the eyes of our hearts to see You in our fellow man. Help us to open our ears to listen… Really listen, when people are speaking to us. Thank you for the privilege of coming before you with our prayers and requests and praises.
Make it a Thoughtful Thursday! God is good…
