Blessing Follows Obedience

Teresa Anzalone tells us the importance of obedience. Remember blessing follow obedience!!

Recently, my friend and Pastor, Candi made me aware that I had offended someone in our church family.  Imagine, ME, offend someone!  My immediate inward response was to get defensive, but by the power of the Holy Spirit I chose to obey my own 11thcommandment: Thou shalt not protect theyself from truth.

I was brokenhearted to think that I had done or said something to cause another person to feel rejected, unloved, or unvaluable.  I acknowledged my bad behavior, agreed with God that what I had done was wrong and sought forgiveness, FIRST from God, then prayed for the opportunity to seek forgiveness from the sweet person I had offended.

I am so grateful that I got that opportunity and this sweet person couldn’t have been more gracious in forgiving me.  This situation could have gone sideways in so many ways, but the offended person handled it properly; the one to whom it was brought handled it properly;  and the one who screwed up big time chose to “die to self”, put on her big-girl panties and own her bad behavior.

It was a win/win/win; but it always is when we are obedient. Blessings indeed follow obedience.

“Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

James 4:17 NLT
